Clear Retain
Teeth Bleaching Trays
ClearRetain Teeth Bleaching Trays are custom-fitted dental trays for at-home teeth whitening, made from self-taken dental impressions that are shipped to a lab and fabricated in a few days. The kit includes an impression kit (6 sets of putty, 3 upper and 3 lower trays, prepaid return label) and two 1.2 mL syringes of 22% carbamide peroxide whitening gel, with a two-year shelf life. The trays are designed to provide even gel coverage while minimizing gum irritation, and are intended for up to two weeks of treatment to reduce stains from coffee, tea, wine, and smoking; they are not retainers and do not prevent teeth shifting.

Product Insights
Clear Retain's Teeth Bleaching Trays deliver professional-strength at-home whitening through custom-scalloped trays that extend 3mm past the gumline, cutting gum irritation by 50–75% compared to stock trays. The kit includes six putty sets for impressions, with a photo-approval checkpoint before shipping, and the clear EVA plastic (BPA-, phthalate-, and latex-free) tray system seals well enough that visible brightening appears within 1–2 weeks of 20-minute daily wear using the included 22% carbamide peroxide gel—a professional take-home strength. Value is a core promise: the $139 kit undercuts a comparable $265 bundle by more than two-thirds at a $79 price point, and refill gel syringes cost $17.50 per 3-pack versus $50–$100 per dentist syringe. However, the tradeoffs are significant: the 22% gel causes mild temporary sensitivity in roughly 30–40% of patients with no desensitizers; it whitens only natural enamel, leaving crowns and veneers visibly darker; opened gel lasts just 4–6 weeks, forcing consecutive daily use; and durability is questionable, with budget tiers reportedly cracking near one year while the warranty covers 60 days (120 for premium). Additionally, a poor fit risks gel leaks and burns, and buyer-reported service concerns include a $20 fee on refunds and removal of negative reviews.

- Gum protection
- Custom trays extend 3mm past the gumline, cutting gum irritation 50-75% vs stock trays

- Whitens natural enamel only; crowns and veneers won't change shade
- Gel yield
- Using the small-bead dose, one 1.2 ml syringe lasts about three upper-and-lower treatments.
- Gel shelf life
- Opened gel stays effective 4-6 weeks; the sealed 2-year shelf life applies only before opening.
- Refill value
- Replacement gel is $17.50 for a 3-pack of syringes.

- Visible brightening appears within 1–2 weeks of 20-minute daily wear.
- Gel supply
- Opened gel stays potent for only 4–6 weeks, so the kit is meant for consecutive daily use.

- Custom scalloped trays cut gum irritation 50-75%, but a poor fit lets gel leak and burn.
- Material
- Trays are clear EVA plastic, free of BPA, phthalates, and latex.

Using clear aligners as whitening trays
My clear aligner company (Impress) gave me a small tube of whitening gel, and just told me to put a tiny dab in each indentation in my last set of aligners. I did it maybe 7 times, and that was all I needed. It worked great, and I loved getting to customize exactly how much to whiten each tooth (some of my teeth were yellower than others). I imagine you could do this with your retainers?

Clear Retain retainer durability and experience
I have been buying my retainers from clear retain ever since I lost my first set from my ortho, which was about 4-5 years ago.

Custom whitening trays praised for maintenance
Teeth look awesome. I also have custom whitening trays and swear it's the best way to whiten teeth. I wear mine for about 15 mins twice a week when I go in the shower just to maintain at this point. I got my whitening trays from my dentist like you do. Told my sister how well it works and just bought them online from sporting smiles for less than $100.
